Story

Living in the heart of suburbia, middle-aged widow Sarah suffers from social isolation. Her companions are typical for the 21st century: a close friend, television, and social media. When Sarah’s Middle Eastern neighbour, Mo, is the victim of a hate crime, she attempts to reach out and comfort him, but is taken aback by his rough demeanour.

Through hearing of political unrest around the world via social media, news, and her close friend Helen, Sarah becomes suspicious of Mo, and begins taking notice of his peculiar behaviour – he stays up until odd hours, receives phone calls from a foreign sounding contact, and he is constantly building something in his garage. When Sarah suspects Mo of being involved in a terrorist bomb plot, she tails him in hot pursuit, only to find herself uncomfortably close to a tense situation.

As actors, Krista and Orsy crossed paths many times at Vancouver film events, before they actually connected. As soon as they did however, it became an endless conversation and dreaming out loud together.  Orsy encouraged Krista to write; Krista encouraged Orsy to direct. The result was Lead & Follow, a short film inspired by a true story about a night that changed Krista's life.  They discovered that they loved writing/producing together, and started working on a new script immediately.
